Carson House
Tour Colonel John Carson’s 18th century home and
learn about this renowned historical figure who once
sat as a representative to the Fayetteville
Convention, where North Carolina delegates came
together and ratified the United States Constitution
in 1789. Carson later went on to serve in the North
Carolina’s House of Commons and was friends with
figures such as Davey Crockett and Sam Houston.
Located at 1805 Highway 70 West in Marion, the home

Grandfather Mountain NC
Rising 5,964 feet above sea level in the beautiful
NC Blue Ridge Mountains, Grandfather Mountain is one
of the highest peaks in the Appalachians. Offering
several miles of North Carolina Hiking Trails,
Grandfather Mountain is one of the more popular
areas to hike and mountain bike. Atop Grandfather
Mountain visitors can walk across the Mile High
Swinging Bridge and look out across the skyline that
seems to go on forever. Also atop the summit is a
nice museum and several wildlife habitats where
otters, bears, mountain lions, and deer all make
their homes. Recognized as an International
Biosphere Reserve, Grandfather Mountain is home to
several unique and rare species of flora and fauna
in 16 different ecologically differentiated
communities. Our

Linville Caverns NC
Linville Caverns is one of the best NC Mountain
Attractions and nearby to our
Cabins
on the Blue
Ridge Parkway. Open daily from March 1 to November
30 visitors can tour the actively forming limestone
cave which rests in the Linville Gorge Wilderness
Area. Learn the interesting history of the cave and
be sure to bring your camera so you can photograph
the unique and oddly shaped stalactites and
stalagmites. One particularly fun part of the tour
takes you over a man-made bridge which is situated
above what is known as the bottomless pool.
Admission into Linville Caverns is $6.00 for adults,
$4.00 for children and $4.50 for seniors aged 62 and
over. Children under 5 are admitted to Linville
Caverns for free. Guided tours of the caverns depart
every 10 to 15 minutes, and tours last approximately
30 to 40 minutes. Be sure to wear a jacket when
visiting as the cave is typically 52 degrees year

Caverns is just 4 miles south of the Blue Ridge

Mountain Gateway Museum and Heritage Center
Just a short drive from
Marion North Carolina in Old
Fort NC you can tour the Mountain Gateway Museum. As
a North Carolina State Museum, the Mountain Gateway
Center offers exhibits and information on the vast
history of the area and its earliest inhabitants.
Festivals, summer programs, and other great events
take place here each season, and the center also is
home to a nice outdoor amphitheatre that regularly
hosts shows. Located at 102 Water Street in Old

Orchard at Altapass
Stop by the Orchard at Altapass, a historic, century old Apple Orchard located on the Blue Ridge
Parkway, and enjoy not only apples, but music, art,
and plenty of family fun. Children can tour the
apple orchard and roam over to the Butterfly
Conservation Center where Monarch butterflies are
raised right on the farm. Located near our Cabins in
the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Orchard's Center has a
great ice cream fudge shop that sells not only
sweets but delicious sauces and dressings. Be sure
to enjoy this great mountain attraction. Located at
