NC Fly Fishing
Anglers come to the Blue Ridge Mountains from all
over to enjoy the numerous hidden NC Fly Fishing
spots in and around the area. Here we’ve detailed a
few of the more popular NC Fly Fishing spots.
Lake James State Park
Near by many of the
Lake James

Mill Creek
Mill Creek is a popular NC Fly Fishing spot and is
fished heavily due as it is high accessibility and
location just off US 70. This spot has an upper and
lower section which combines to offer more than 8
miles of great NC Fly Fishing.
North Fork Catawba River
Located at State Road 1569, near the North Cove
School, this well stocked and easily found NC Fly
Fishing stream is near the headwaters and offers
over 11 miles of great fishing.
NC White Water Rafting
The majestic NC Blue Ridge Mountains tower above the
surrounding landscapes and offer phenomenal long range
views. These gorgeous mountains were created by
ancient rivers, many of which still flow in the
area. These great NC White Water Rafting rivers
carved out this area and their rumbling waters
provide plenty of thrills. Here are some of the
better NC White Water Rafting rivers nearby to our

canoeing, or try kayaking for a fun adventure!
Nantahala River Whitewater Rafting
The Nantahala River is the perfect white water
rafting river in NC for beginners and those new to
white water rafting. With Class II and Class III
rapids, the Nantahala has controlled river waters
which ensure that the rapids are never too high or
dangerous.
French Broad Whitewater Rafting
The upper French Broad is a great spot for lazy
float trips as it takes rafters through some great
sights including sprawling farmlands and wooded
areas. Near Asheville, the river becomes a bit more
powerful and should only be rafted by seasoned
paddlers.
Green River
The Green River’s famous “Narrows” are a world
renowned section of this whitewater river offering
11 major Class IV and V rapids. Several downriver,
whitewater races take place on the Green River each
year and paddlers from all over the Southeast come
to the Green River to enjoy its phenomenal paddling.
Beginners and those looking to canoe will enjoy the
portion of the Green River near Green River Cove as
it offers over 8 miles of mild, calm waters.
The Davidson River
The Davidson River is commonly used for tubing as
it’s calm waters wind through the scenic Pisgah
National Forest. At times of high rains the water
level rises creating some great spots to kayak,
however most of the time the waters are shallow.
The Nolichucky River
The Nolichucky River is one of North Carolina and
Tennessee’s most famous White Water Rafting rivers
and offers over 25 Class II-IV rapids. Taking
rafters through the remote Unaka Mountains located
between the two states, many commercial rafting
companies raft the Nolichucky as it offers rafters a
unique paddling experience. Only intermediate and
expert paddlers should try the Nolichucky River.
